Conservation Board Moves Forward

The Jefferson County Conservation Board voted to move forward with the survey of land that could potentially have recreational impact for the community. Located adjacent to the Jefferson County Health Department, the land in question is currently held by the Industrial Development Board. However, they have deemed it unsuitable for building due to the topography of the property. The Conservation Board voted unanimously to have the property surveyed to identify any hazards or encroachments, as well as the topography and access points before accepting the property from the IDB.

Conservation Board Chairman Tucker will seek input on environmental issues and will request a search to identify old cemeteries or burial grounds, as other are known to be in the area. The Board will also request that the survey include information regarding the Health Department road access and slope, as that property is currently included in the parcel.
