Fresh Tomatoes

Asked AnsweredI am considering purchasing one of those upside down tomato plant hangers and was wondering if you know if they actually produce. They seem a little odd to me but I just simply have no room in my yard for planting, now that I have moved, and cannot imagine a year without fresh tomatoes.

Some people are great proponents of the upside down planting method, gardening experts warn that there are some considerations concerning this method of planting. Watering appears to be a point of concern, as the water runs out of the plant base, often leaving the plant too dry. It also runs over the leaves and fruit, sometimes creating a fertile ground for fungus and rot. Upside down planting may also yield fewer fruit. However, that being said, it is a great way to have fresh tomatoes in a small space and most who are looking at this option are not anticipating a heavy yield.
