The Jefferson County High School Youth Leadership Class recently took a walking tour of Dandridge. Acting as a guide for the tour was Bob Jarnagin, who serves as the Jefferson County Historian and the go to guy for Dandridge history. The Historic District in Dandridge is recognized on the National Register of Historical Places and boasts several buildings that enjoy historical distinction. The Historic Jefferson County Courthouse, which was built in 1845, houses a museum of artifacts from various periods in Jefferson County history and is a favorite stopping point for tourist visiting the second oldest town in Tennessee. Beyond providing the walking history lesson for the JCHS Youth Leadership Class, Jarnagin often gives historical tours to visiting dignitaries and other organizations interested in delving into the past of the County seat.
