Dandridge Rumblings Man-Made, Not Natural

Many residents in the area of Dandridge proper were startled late Friday morning by a loud rumbling that was accompanied by the ground shaking. The incident took place around 11:50 am and quickly social media, as well as phone lines and email of town support offices, began to light up with questions regarding the brief interlude in an other wise hot, humid, but relatively peaceful early weekend morning.

Though the local area has been known to have occasional earthquake action, according to officials the Friday morning rumbling was man-made, rather than natural. A representative of the Dandridge Public Works stated that they were informed that blasting would occur at the quarry located inside town between 11:30 am and noon, answering the question of what was shaking town proper. They were unclear if additional blasting would occur, but were certain of the origin of the late morning excitement.
