New Principal Named for Talbott Elementary School

Talbott Elementary School will have a new principal when classes start in August. With the transfer of former principal Amy Sharp to Coordinator of Instructional Technology and PDC, the Department of Education had an opening for a new leader of the Wildcats. According to the Director of Human Resources for Jefferson County School, Carol Baker, the position has been filled by Ronald Overton and he is already spending time at the school to familiarize himself with the operations.

Overton entered the teaching profession in 2011, following a twenty year stint in various areas of middle management with Smoky Mountain Knife Works. He was placed as a second grade teacher at Dandridge Elementary School, where he served during the 2011-2012 school year. He made a brief move to fifth grade before settling in as a fourth grade teacher, which is where he was working when he made the move to  head Talbott Elementary School. Overton received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Tusculum College and an Ed. S from LMU.
