Tennova Wound Healing Center Community Open House

Tennova Healthcare has installed new hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) chambers at the Tennova Wound Healing Center at Physicians Regional Medical Center. HBOT is indicated for patients with wounds that have resisted healing, such as diabetic foot ulcers.

To celebrate the unveiling of this new technology, Tennova Healthcare invites community members to attend an open house Thursday, August 27, 2015, which will feature tours of the center.

“Chronic wounds affect more than 8 million people in the United States,” said Kevin Bailey, M.D., medical director of the Wound Healing Center at Physicians Regional Medical Center. “Unfortunately, that number is on the rise as a result of our aging population and the increasing rate of diseases like diabetes. In many instances, hyperbaric oxygen therapy promotes a faster healing process.”

Tennova Healthcare offers wound care services at Physicians Regional Medical Center, Turkey Creek Medical Center and LaFollette Medical Center. In addition to HBOT, services offered at Tennova Wound Healing Centers include:

  • Infection control
  • Pain-reducing wound dressings
  • Surgical wound debridement
  • Treatment of burns
  • Wound and edema management techniques
  • Bio-engineered skin replacement
  • Vacuum-assisted wound closure
