When Jefferson County travels to Carter tonight at 7:30, both teams will be 1-0. But the similarities do not stop there.

Carter On Offense

On offense the Hornets will look very similar to what Jefferson County puts on the field. They will line up in the shotgun formation with 4 WR’s at all times, either trips or doubles.

They will run the ball with a few different guys, #19 5’5”, Isaac Scarbrough is their scat back who has the wheels to take it to the house. TaMichael Battle is their bruiser, he is a thick, bowling ball type runner that will punish you. They will also run, all-state linebacker, Austin Howard, out of the “wildcat” formation primarily on short yardage runs.

The passing game for Carter, will be the telling story of the outcome of the game. Simply put, if Carter is able to throw the ball against the Jefferson County defense, Carter could very well win. However, I do not see that being the case. The Carter wide receivers will catch the ball, but lack the speed to be able to finish. Quarterback, D’Angelo Brooks, has the ability to make plays with his feet and could cause problems for Jefferson County by buying enough time for his receivers to get open.

Carter On Defense

From watching film, Carter looks to run a 3-4 defense, but will walk the outside backers up to give 4-3 or even a 5-2 look at times. They are a very solid group in the front 7, led by All-State Middle Linebacker, Austin Howard. No doubt, Howard is a playmaker and has a nose for the football. The secondary had good coverage on Halls most of the night, Halls did make some plays against them, but not of the fault of the DB’s.

Prediction

I think this game is very similar to last week’s against Grace Christian game. The two teams will trade a few blows early, but look for Jefferson County to pull ahead in the 2nd half and winning pretty handily.

Jefferson County wins, 45-27
