AEC Contributes Funds to New CNU Community Development Program

Representatives from Carson Newman University were pleased to accept a check from Appalachian Electric Cooperative to jump-start a new initiative to “Reclaim the Creek.”

Sustainable development is in keeping with AEC’s mandate to demonstrate “Concern for Community” through the seven Cooperative Principles that characterize the Co-op’s business model. “We think CNU is on the right track with this approach,” said AEC GM Greg Williams. “They’re clearing this land in preparation for making it useful again—to both the university and the surrounding community. We wanted to be a part of helping that happen.”

The Co-op’s contribution will be applied to costs associated with the initiative, which prioritizes projects that will benefit the public and CNU alike. For more information about “Reclaiming the Creek” or to make a donation, contact the Carson Newman Athletic Department at 865.471.3396.
