Long County Commission Meetings

Asked AnsweredI was at the last County Commission meeting and it seemed to last forever. It started late and after about three hours of accomplishing nothing the meeting let out. They didn’t even get to the last couple of items on the agenda and there were only four listed. Are there not guidelines in place that keep these meetings moving?

There is a policy in place that limits the hour that a meeting can end. In the case of the meeting in question, it was a work session, not a voting meeting, so no action can take place. The meeting is only for informational purposes and is designed to make the voting meeting more efficient. This meeting also included the County Commission having a closed executive session with their attorney and that took a fair amount of time. Will the work session impact the length of time of the voting meeting? That remains to be seen.
