Ghosts and goblins, witches, super heroes and zombies of every shape and size roamed the streets on Saturday evening in search of something sweet. They scoured neighborhoods, church parking lots and businesses in their quest to fill their candy bucket to the brim and nary one pumpkin lit house was left untouched. As was the case in years past, the streets of the historic town square in Dandridge were steeped in trick or treaters who found more than just chocolate treasure thanks to local participating businesses. Those that made their way down to the corner of Gay Street and Main Street also found balloon animals, smoke ghosts and even a little magic at the second annual Boo at the Vance Building. Favorite neighborhoods famous for their exceptional treats like Patriot Hills saw an early influx of action on Halloween and the relatively new additions to the evening, such as the multi treat event sponsored by businesses in one Jefferson City parking lot, were bursting with trick or treaters. The Jefferson County Rescue Squad, local Fire Departments and Police offered candy and protection for the youngest in our community. All in all, it was a safe, kid friendly Halloween, thanks to the community, businesses and First Responders and a really scarily sweet way to usher out October!
