It Just Makes Scents!

Leslie Adderhold Photo articleIn today’s evolving work-place, many women (and men) are searching for ways to balance their work and lives. While searching for this life-work balance, they are searching for ideas to start their own businesses. One Jefferson County, TN resident, Leslie Adderhold has done just that. Leslie is a teacher, wife, mother and now a business owner who has turned her attention to a direct sales opportunity with a Texas based company called Pink Zebra that “just makes scense”; says Adderhold.” She goes on to say; “I had tried another venture through direct sales previously, but was not overly impressed with their customer support. My customers are my business.”

Pink Zebra is home fragrance direct sales business that is part of a $10 Billion dollar industry. Pink Zebra has developed a product they call Sprinkles. It is a highly fragranced, soft soy wax melt product that is made in their factory in Kentucky. According to David Hoag, Director of Research and Development, thier 20 years plus experience has taught them everything about how to ensure each and every fragrance and its impact. The company utilizes a 20 foot rule that they use to evaluate all their fragrances. Evaluations are performed inside a 20 foot x 20 foot room with 20 foot ceilings. Each frangrance is evaluated for a total of 3 seperate days to test for longivity, rotating scents each day to keep the evaluators scences fresh. Strong performance results must be unanamous among all the evaluators. According to Hoag, “however much it takes is our motto” to get each sprinkle to perform. Three minutes is the time it takes to turn their liquid wax into solid sprinkles. The speed to solid sprinkles helps prevent frangrance loss that results from long cure times. Quality control checks are used all along the process to ensure the strongest sprinkles are delivered to customers.

The company has compiled their own list of banned fragrance ingredients over the years and the list is still growing as information is discovered. Among the list is: Crop Watch essential oils (Group dedicated to protect threatened plants around the globe, Phthalates (hormone disruptors), Prop 65 ingredients (State of California list of known carcinogens), SARA 313 ingredients (EPA list of chemicals requiring reporting), Diacetyl (buttering ingredient know to cause respritory problems), just to name a few. Pink Zebra only uses IFRA (International Fragrance Association) approved ingredients. Each lot of Sprinkles is run in small batches and day coded to ensure freshness.

Leslie says that not only are there countless opportunities with her affiliation with the many different fragrance products; but there are also the giving-back to my community aspects that I really respect. HEROES is a program developed by the company. HEROES stands for Helping, Encouraging, Rewarding & Obtaining Education for Single moms. This program strives to support single moms by donating days of daycare to those heroes in our society who through their many selfless sacrifices provide their children with love in ways too numerous to count. It is designed to help families in the community to fulfill their dreams of a better life. She goes on to say. as an independent consultant for Pink Zebra, she would be glad to help anyone get into business for themselves through Pink Zebra. There are also lots of fundraising opportunities for groups such as churches, schools, and other organizations.
