It has been a pleasure working with the commission of today. No longer do we run in and vote for something without giving it careful thought. Correct information, given in time, before voting, lets commissoiners give careful thought before voting. The days of uninformed action hurriedly run in is over. Some however don’t agree with this process. Work Sessions are one week before voting meetings so commissioners can research what they are voting on. I personally don’t believe in trying to tell someone how to vote, given correct information, this commission, is doing a great job for Jefferson County.

This commission has gone from having narrow votes 10-11 to 17-4 votes, in the past 1 1/2 years which shows we are doing our job together. Cutting the number of commissioners will only make it easier to pull votes to Special Interest groups. Half thought out New Taxes will hurt Jeff County in the Future. We should give careful thought to the future of Jeff County. When all departments do their job, everything runs smoothly. This is the Jefferson County Commission elected by the people, for the people, to spend your money wisely, not the Mayors Commission to give him everything he wants.

Thanks,

Jim Carmichael
Chairman, Jefferson County, TN Commission
