Jefferson County and Early Voting

Asked AnsweredI have heard that early voting was slow this time but everywhere else they are saying that there is a big turnout. Does Jefferson County just not vote?

Actually, early voting ended strong with the last two days of early voting bringing in more than 1500 voters. While Jefferson County may be running a little behind projections, there are two possible factors that influenced a slightly lower turnout than expected. One was seriously bad weather during the early voting period and the other was a large candidate pool for the Republicans. Some voters just were not able to get out in the inclement weather and others may have been waiting for the number of candidates to lessen before casting their vote. Predictions still hold for a large turnout on election day.
