State Representative Andrew Farmer Appointed Vice-Chairman Of House Judicial Confirmation Committee

This week in Nashville, State Representative Andrew Farmer (R–Sevierville) was officially appointed Vice-Chairman of the House Judicial Confirmation Committee.

The appointment comes after former committee member Jon Lundberg was called to active duty in the United States Navy.

The Judicial Confirmation Committee reviews the judicial nominees made by the governor and makes recommendations to the full House on whether the committee believes the nomination should move forward. In 2014, voters across Tennessee approved a constitutional amendment that now requires the House and Senate to confirm all appellate judge appointees before they can be officially seated on the bench.

“Representative Farmer is an ideal choice to step into this important role as Vice-Chairman of the House Judicial Confirmation Committee,” said Speaker Harwell. “Andrew serves as State Representative with a high standard of professionalism, and I am confident he will perform the duties of this appointment with the dedication and integrity the citizens of Tennessee deserve and expect from their public servants.”

Andrew Farmer serves as Chairman of the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee. He is also a member of the House Criminal Justice Committee and the House Insurance and Banking Committee. He lives in Sevierville and represents House District 17, which encompasses portions of Jefferson and Sevier Counties. He can be reached by email at Rep.Andrew.Farmer@capitol.tn.gov
