Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016, the Dandridge Board of Mayor and Aldermen filled the seventh seat on the Board, which became vacant with the passing of Alderman David Jones. In a unanimous vote, Board Members appointed Jeff Depew to fill Jones’ unexpired term as Alderman for the Town of Dandridge. Depew took the oath of office and was sworn in by the Honorable Will Roach before joining the Mayor and Aldermen for a first look at the Town’s budget for the 2016/2017 fiscal year.

Depew, a local businessman, is a 27 year resident of the Town of Dandridge. He is co owner of the Dandridge General Store and owner/editor of the Jefferson County Post, both of which are located in the Historic Town Square in downtown Dandridge. Of his appointment to the Board, Depew stated “ I would like to thank the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for their confidence in my abilities to fill the position that was left by the loss of Alderman David Jones. David was a man who dedicated himself to the service of Dandridge and he will be greatly missed by all of us. I am honored to fill his seat and to serve the citizens of Dandridge.”

Following the swearing in of Depew, Melissa Peagler, Town Administrator, presented the Board with a first blush look at budget requests for the next fiscal year, kicking off budget season for the Town of Dandridge.
