We’re Back

Push harder!
You can do it!
“Hello, Sky.  I’ve missed you!
There’s the sun in the east–
Morning has broken!”
Mangled, twisted, weak-kneed sprouts
Anxiously face the March lion wind,
Resolutely withstand April’s last hard freeze, For their efforts will be
evidenced When the peonies scream in May, “Hello, Spring!  We’re back!”

With strength and purpose
In the face of harsh realities,
They offer an example
To all who see,
Never complaining,
Serenely accepting
Their perennial existence.
They explode into elegant blossoms–

More people should be like peonies!
