Jefferson County School Board Meets In Called Meeting

The Jefferson County School Board met in a Called Meeting on December 18, 2012 in the Media Center of Jefferson County High School.

The purpose of the Called Meeting was for action regarding the White Pine School Copier Settlement. Prior to the Called Meeting the School Board met in Executive Session with their attorney.

The Meeting was Called to Order by Chairman of the Board Potts. Absent from Roll Call were Board Members Rogers and Vines.

School Attorney Lawrence Giordano, of the Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop, PC, informed the Board that two actions, both initiated in 2010, were the point of consideration. Both involve a defunct seller and lease agreement for copiers at White Pine School. Giordano recommended that 1 copier be returned to settle one action and that the School Board settle for $32,000 payment on the other case. Upon a Motion from Board Member Jarnigan and 2nd from Board Member Bradley, the Board Unanimously Approved to fund a settlement of 2 pending court cases by returning one copier and paying $32,000 to settle the other case. The Meeting was Adjourned.
