New Market Volunteer Fire Department Holds 12th Annual Summerfest

The New Market Volunteer Fire Department held their 12th annual Summerfest this weekend for the community. The event featured several vendors including crafters, food, face painting, and inflatables for the kids. Organizers wanted to create a variety of activities for the community and families over a three day period including live music and fellowship.

Summerfest was focused on raising funds to help pay for the fire department’s insurance and daily needs not covered in their allowed budget. Fire Chief Sammy Solomon especially wanted to thank the community and surrounding counties for their continued support of Summerfest. Soloman explained the department’s goal of raising $20,000 this year and how it could only be accomplished by continued community involvement. Summerfest is the department’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
