Jefferson City held its annual Independence Day parade Monday afternoon right in the heart of old downtown. Crowds of onlookers gathered to watch and celebrate the holiday together in a charismatic style. Several prominent groups presented floats, including churches, fire departments, businesses, and private members of the community.

Children and families were showered with candy and smiles as the floats passed by, thrilled to take part and spend their holiday with friends and neighbors. The celebration is welcome attention for the historic downtown area. Not only is the annual celebration seen as a wonderful way of bringing the small town community together, but it is also a reminder of the many who passed, sacrificing their lives to grant and protect America’s freedom.
