JCHS Fall Sports Preview

Excitement is building in Jefferson County.  As school gets started this week, students are getting settled into a new routine after the hot, hazy summer.  A group of students have already been hard at work for weeks, though.  The student athletes of Jefferson County High School have been practicing, training, and getting geared up for the fall sport season, which is about to get underway in East Tennessee.

Although seemingly the most popular, football is not the only fall sport in Jefferson County.  There are several other sports getting ready to go to battle for our Patriots.  As soon as the TSSAA “Dead Period” ended, the Patriot Boys and Girls Golf team started hitting the links in preparation for their first tournament on August 1.  They have already put one scrimmage in the bag, and have been practicing every day.

Also set to have a great season is the JCHS Girls Soccer Team.  Having just returned from Team Camp, they have been practicing every morning to hone their skills.  Their first scrimmage is set for August 9, against Kings Academy at JCHS.  The time is set for 6:00 p.m. After finishing 8-4-1 overall, and going undefeated in the district, The JCHS Girls Soccer Team is poised for another epic season.

The Jefferson County Lady Patriots Volleyball Team has also been hard at work.  Headed up this year by Kylie Whaley, the ladies of the volleyball court will surely be a crowd pleaser.  Their first match is set for August 15 at Farragut, with the home opener at JCHS set for August 16 against Morristown East.

The Jefferson County Cross Country Team has been putting in some serious practice, as well.  The natural terrain of Jefferson County proves to be a perfect training ground for the runners, and they are a great team to come out and support.  The first meet for the team is set to take place September 6 at the Panther Creek All-Comers.
