Early Friday morning, Hearthstone, Inc., a builder of log homes located between Dandridge and Newport on Hwy 25/70, was the scene of a large fire which destroyed  a building containing timber.  According to officials, when fire crews arrived, the building was fully involved and had taken approximately 75% of the structure already.  Firefighters were able to get the fire under control and protect the fire from spreading to surrounding structures.  There were no personnel or firefighter injuries reported.  Dandridge Fire Chief, Andy Riley said, “We had to pump about 130,000 gallons of water at a rate of about 1000 gallons per minute on the fire.  The nature of the material burning made it extremely hot”.  Firefighters had to truck water from the nearby lake in order to keep water flowing.  According to Riley, the investigation of what caused the fire is still ongoing.
