Students and teachers headed back to the classroom as Jefferson County Schools held their first day on Friday. Jefferson County held a half day in which students could meet their teachers and pick up all necessary paperwork. Excitement was especially seen at Mt. Horeb Elementary, as students and parents met teachers for the first time and greeted old friends.

First Grade teacher Mrs. Franklin was particularly excited about the coming school year. She explained, “The first day of school is the best day ever; I still get butterflies after all this time.” Franklin, like many, is excited to meet new students and get started with a brand new year of learning. For many, school is a new adventure as they wait to see what a new year will bring. Students should always keep in mind the opportunities offered through education, as it can be a catapult to their future successes.
