The Maury Hornets welcomed the Eastridge Bears to Dandridge on Tuesday night.  As the night began with homecoming activities, the Hornets were already starting to buzz.

Before the game, Maury Middle introduced its homecoming court for the 2016-2017 year.  The ladies and their escorts were the main highlight of the evening.

As soon as the first drive took place, it was very clear who this game was was going to belong to.

After a botched kickoff by the Bears, the Hornets took possession close to the 50 yard line.  It didn’t take long for Maury to drive the ball into the endzone, obtain a two-point conversion, and gain an early lead.

The Hornets defense proved to be too much for the Eastridge Bears, and Maury quickly regained possession after an interception by Hunter Hefner. The Hornets’ offense took full advantage of the situation, and Jordan Little introduced himself to the endzone. The two point conversion was stopped by the Bears, but the lead still belonged to the Hornets, and they ended the first quarter up 14-0.

The second quarter didn’t look much different, as it was still the Maury Hornet show.  The dominating defense was quickly wearing down the Bears’ offense, therefore paving the way for the Hornets’ offense to show the skill that they truly had.  Early in the quarter, Drew Gregg took a trip into the endzone, and racked up even more points for the Hornets with a good conversion; the score shot up to 22-0.  After forcing the Bears to punt one more time, the Hornets’ Stephen McReynolds strolled into the endzone for yet another Hornets touchdown. The two-point conversion sent the Maury Hornets into the half ahead of the Eastridge Bears 30-0.

Unfortunately for the Bears, The Hornets’ offense didn’t slow down one bit for the second half of the game.  The last two quarters had the Hornets racking up the points, and Stephen McReynolds traveling to his favorite place for the evening.  After a long punt return, a 10 yard reception, and yet another 55 yard punt return, McReynolds had the Bears’ defense in shock. Before anyone could blink, the Hornets had a 52-0 lead against the bears, and showed no signs of letting up.  Just to seal the deal, Jordan Little pushed into the endzone for one more touchdown, followed by another two-point conversion, and the Maury Hornets shut out the Eastridge Bears 60-0
