Earlier this month, the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug & other Addiction Services (TAADAS) held its annual banquet and awards dinner in recognition of Recovery Month and of the accomplishments of the recovery community. During the event, the state’s top addiction help organization named State Representative Andrew Farmer (R–Sevierville) as its Tennessee Legislator of the Year.

The TAADAS Voice of Recovery Award honors Tennessee legislators and public servants who champion addiction-related causes. It is a special honor that highlights the needs of the recovery community and the commitment individuals have made to this cause.

This year’s awards honors Representative Farmer, who recognized and acted on the concerns of TAADAS with the Fetal Assault Law. In addition, the group heralded Representative Farmer’s continuous work with the organization to help find alternate approaches that promote access to treatment for pregnant drug using women.

This year’s award ceremony was held at Trevecca Nazarene University Community Church and was catered and served by clients of the Crossroads Recovery Center. TAADAS was also celebrating its 40th anniversary year and invited national and state leaders to help commemorate the occasion.
