Local Churches Start Coats for the Cold Drive

Groups of local churches around the community are banding together in the spirit of the upcoming holiday season to create a Coats for the Cold drive. The mission of the churches, ranging across multiple denominations, is to couple meeting the needs of the community with the love of Christ.

The Coats for the Cold drive is seeking new and gently-used coats for kids and adults, along with other slightly-used winter accessories. The drive kicked off on Monday, October 17th and will continue until Friday, November 11th. Drop off bins for donations have been placed at 5 convenient locations throughout the city of Dandridge: City Hall, the Dandridge Fire and Police Departments, the Water Department, and he Field of Dreams.

Organizers are thankful for the support and encouragement offered to them by city leaders. The local churches plan to help the needs of students at Piedmont Elementary first, and then reach out and distribute to other area schools based on needs and supplies. Further distribution will be discussed at the group’s next meeting within the coming weeks.
