Jefferson County Schools Use Safe and Supportive Children’s Survey

The Jefferson County Department of Education has recently released a Safe and Supportive Children’s Survey for teachers, parents, and students. The survey originated from the State Department, and similar surveys like it have been used in the past to measure schools’ learning climates, along with areas of improvement.

The Safe and Supportive Children’s Survey will measure three areas of school climate: experiences, engagement in safety, and overall school environment. In previous surveys the only ones included were students. However, this survey will use a matrix with more varied analysis, utilizing not only student produced data, but also parent and teacher data.

The survey is being used throughout the nation and can be found almost everywhere within the Jefferson County school district or by clicking here. Once the data has been collected, the survey provides further analysis with a grade and school level breakdown of the results. The Department of Education intends to use this information to try and make school environments and situations better overall for students, teachers, and parents alike. This will be the first time Jefferson County schools have used the Safe and Supportive Children’s survey.
