Habitat for Humanity, along with The Holy Trinity Catholic Church and friends of the community, came together Thursday night for the Forming the Future Gala. The gala was a fundraising event to help raise money for Racine Ridge, the first Habitat for Humanity neighborhood of its kind in Jefferson County.

The Racine Ridge neighborhood is located at Crooke Road in Jefferson City, and organizers are hoping to fill the community with fourteen homes in total. While construction has been completed on at least one home, Habitat for Humanity wanted to reach out to community leaders in hopes of helping the citizens of Jefferson County experience the American Dream of owning their own home.

The gala featured a silent auction, live music and a speech by keynote speaker Jefferson City Mayor Mark Potts. Habitat for Humanity also partnered with the Carson-Newman baseball team for volunteer services. Donations and proceeds from the event went toward the construction of more homes on Racine Ridge. Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity Sheila Wiggins wanted to thank everyone for taking part in the celebration and fellowship of the Jefferson County community.
