Inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump to be Held January 20, 2017

The inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States will take place on Friday January 20th, 2017. Trump and his vice president, Mike Pence, will take their respective oaths on the west front of the United States Capital Building in Washington.

People who live in Washington or the surrounding area can buy free tickets to the event. However, many are warning that ticket supplies will quickly diminish. Thousands who are in Washington will get to watch on TV screens on the National Mall.

Remarks will begin at 11:30 A.M. and the official ceremony with Donald Trump will begin around noon. The President-elect will take the Oaths of Office, followed by the Inaugural Address. Washington insiders are reporting that the event will be heavily staffed with security, as the inauguration will have about 1600 invited guests. The guest list will include outgoing president Barack Obama, the speaker of the house, former presidents, diplomatic corps, cabinet members and nominees, congressmen, governors, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

America’s Got Talent Winner Jackie Evancho will be singing the National Anthem. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir are also scheduled to make an appearance, as well as a performance by Toby Keith. Other entertainment for the inauguration have not been announced. It has been no secret that there has been some controversy over performers actually preforming at the ceremony. Celebrities might also be somewhat scarce at the ceremony.

Donald Trump, like almost all the presidential nominees before him, will be sworn in no matter the weather in an outside ceremony. In fact, Trump and all planning on attending the ceremony will have a full day ahead of them. A full run down of the day’s events are as follows.

The day will begin with a morning prayer; the tradition of the Morning Prayer was started by President Roosevelt back in 1931. All will attend a small service at St. John’s Episcopal Church across the street from the White House. The outgoing and incoming presidents will also have a brief meeting of words before the ceremony. After this, the vice president will take his oath of office given by the chief justice of the Supreme Court. This will be followed by the swearing in of President Trump.

The 35 word oath must be read exactly as it is in constitution. After the swearing in the President will deliver his inaugural address. Every president since George Washington has given one, and they range in length given the person. Following the address, President Obama will then take his official exit from the White House.

The afternoon will be full of more lighthearted events. A lunch will follow, along with the inaugural parade through the streets of Washington. The evening will end with inaugural balls throughout the city of Washington. With the swearing in and transition of a new president, a new phase of America is on its way.
