Making the Most Out of Your Easter Decorations

Easter is a welcome sign of the spring season for many, and brings family and friends together for a fresh start into new beginnings. If you are entertaining this Easter season, you may be looking for some fresh ideas for your home and table. You might also be a busy parent looking for some creative and last minute ideas for your kids’ Easter baskets. Here are some ideas to help decorate the house and give those you love some creative baskets.

The first thing that people see when they come to your home is the front door. Freshen up the front door with an Easter themed wreath. Take a typical wreath of straw and add some colorful eggs, carrots, or twist in some pastel colors to liven it up and make it festive. You can also switch the flowers on the front porch to those of the season.

There are also several ideas you can use to freshen up the inside of the house. For example, bring Easter dinner outside (weather permitting). This way decoration has to be minimum, given that you are using nature itself as your centerpiece. Add zest to Easter centerpieces with some oranges and lemons to add a fragrant pop. To do this, cut the fruit in halves and then skewer the halves on floral picks. It is suggested to do this minutes before guests arrive for the full effect.

Other suggestions include mixing up patterns in the pieces around your home. If you use mostly contemporary colors, using patterns like florals or polka dots can add some much needed spring flare. If you are already missing your Christmas tree, another cute idea is to start the tradition of an Easter tree. Gather a small tree and decorate it with Easter eggs and bunnies.

Another important Easter decoration around the home is the Easter basket. If you are looking to step outside of the box this season, there are several options for you. Instead of making a basket, make an Easter terrarium. Fill a mason jar with a layer of chocolate rocks, edible grass, candy eggs and marshmallow bunnies. Tie a ribbon around it to finish it off as a perfect gift for guests.

Make a 3D basket with paper flowers. You can find printable examples online. Just make the flowers from the pintables and add them to an old vase or can. You can even use an old watering can to create a basket. Tie a ribbon to the spout to make it easy to carry and fill it with Easter goodies.

If you know a child that has food allergies or sensitivities then consider alternative basket ideas like hats, umbrellas, and other fun containers and fill them with small items, like coloring books or sunglasses. For the adults in your life you can also make an adult Easter basket. Find an old crate or bucket and decorate the outside. Fill it with wine, chocolate, or other items to give as a gift to friends and neighbors. Take these ideas and make the most out of your Easter season!
