KENNETH EDWARD PATE

KENNETH EDWARD PATE, age 83, departed this life on December 7, 2016. He was born and primarily raised in Jefferson City, TN, and spent part of his early childhood in Knoxville. He
graduated from Nelson Merry High School in 1952 before relocating to New York City for several years. Kenneth joined the United States Army in 1958, and served in Security Forces. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1961 at Fort Hayes in Columbus, Ohio, he moved to Dayton and began employment with NCR. In 1970, he returned to Tennessee to build a home and start a new chapter in his life. This same year marked the beginning of his 35 year career at the Jefferson City Waste Water Sewage Treatment Plant. This is where he retired from in 2005 as Chief Operator. Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Katherine Pate; parents, Ethel Pate Carter and Clarence Kyle; step-fathers, Harrison Hayworth and James B. Carter; brothers, John and Carroll Carter; nephew, Jerome Carter; stepson, Vincent Jones; sisters-in-law, Willie V. Dailey, Jennie Lee Carter, and Patricia Carter; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Wilson and Henry Dailey. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Emma Frances Pate; son, Kenneth Steven Pate (Carolyn Burnside); daughter, Vanessa Pate Cotner; stepson, Joseph Cox; step-daughters, Rebecca (Alvin) Wilker, Charlene, Arlena and Yvette Jones; grandchildren, Courtney Cotner, Britney Cotner (Dickie Gilcrest), Aaron Houseal, Norman (Annabelle) Cox, Claudette (Michael) Ashley, Marc (Beth) Cox, Pamela Wilker Baidoo, Tasha Wilker, Buddy (Robin) Wilker, and Christina Bondaug; great-grandsons, Makyah Setzer and Sur Bragg; brother, James Dan Carter; sister, Jane (Ralph) Buis; sisters-in-law, Eugenia Carter and Debra Carter; brother-in-law, Edward Wilson; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dedicated friends, Gary Eslinger, Ronnie Lethco, Johnny Shaver, Joe Moore, Doug Yount, Robert Huff, Dwight Huff and Chris Davis. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Owensby officiating. Graveside inurnment service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service
