JOHN MICHAEL (JOHNNY) WILDER

John Michael (Johnny) Wilder, age 64, of Morristown passed away on February 17, his mother’s birthday and the 43rd anniversary of his father’s death date. Johnny was born on April 23,1952. Johnny grew up in Dandridge and graduated from Maury High School in 1970. He was an excellent finish carpenter, a skill he mastered under the guidance of his father Glenn and his beloved Uncle Earl, who helped him build a prized grandfather clock. A gifted musician and singer, Johnny played guitar, autoharp, fiddle, and harmonica to the delight of his family and friends. He sang and played at the Smoky Mountain Hayride during the 1980s. Finally, Johnny was a cat lover and a master of properly caring for his special animal friends his entire life. Johnny will enter eternal glory to meet his parents Glenn and Marjorie Wilder and his many loved ones waiting to welcome him home. He is survived by his son Jonah Glenn Wilder, brother Jimmy and Brenda Wilder, sisters Janie and Jim Slaton, and Becky Maples. Johnny was Uncle John to Eva Talley, Tim Wilder, Emma Carpenter, Deke Slaton, Jeremiah Wilder, Amanda Maples, and Dustin Wilder. Johnny has many cousins and special friends. All who
knew Johnny can tell you a special time he spent with with them. What a mark he left on so many lives and places he dwelled here! Receiving of friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday, February 19 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge, and a graveside service will follow on Monday, February 20, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church cemetery at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to a humane society or Mount Zion Cemetery Fund. Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is in charge of arrangements.
