PUBLIC NOTICE – Nominating Committee Seeking Citizen To Serve On Jefferson County Audit Committee

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Jefferson County Commission Nominating Committee is seeking a citizen to serve on the Jefferson County Audit Committee. Members serve on a voluntary basis and are appointed by the County Legislative Body to serve 2-year terms.

The Audit Committee provides independent review and oversight of the county’s financial reporting processes and the county’s internal controls, a review of the external auditor’s report and follow-up on management’s corrective action, and compliance with laws, regulations, and ethics.

To be eligible, you must be a bona fide resident of Jefferson County. To ensure the committee’s independence and effectiveness, no Audit Committee member will be an elected official (with the exception of elected County Commissioners), employee, spouse of an official/employee, or person that comingles assets with an official/employee of Jefferson County.

The deadline to apply for consideration for the current vacancy is Friday, June 9, 2017.
