Governor Haslam, Commissioner Rolfe to Make Economic Development Trip to Europe
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe will travel to Europe from June 26 to June 30 for an economic development trip designed to strengthen ties with European businesses and increase foreign direct investment (FDI) in Tennessee.

Governor Haslam, Commissioner Rolfe Announce Mohawk Industries to Expand Operations in Dickson
After attaining a significant production milestone and opening a new customer experience center within its state-of-the-art ceramic tile manufacturing plant in Dickson earlier in 2017, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Mohawk Industries announced today the world’s leading flooring manufacturer will expand manufacturing operations in Tennessee. Mohawk will add a second plant near its recently built Dickson tile factory.

Tennessee Sees Significant Decreases in County Jobless Rates
Following the lowest state unemployment rate in nearly 20 years, Tennessee’s county unemployment rates for May 2017 have decreased in 94 counties and remained the same in 1, according to data released today by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).

Haslam, TDEC Present Dr. Edward Chester with Lifetime Achievement Award
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau presented Dr. Edward Chester with the Robert Sparks Walker Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Awards on June 16.

Over $33.4 Million in Water and Wastewater Construction Loans Awarded
Gov. Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Commissioner Bob Martineau today announced that seven communities and one Utility District have been approved to receive over $33.4 million in low-interest loans for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

May Revenues
Tennessee tax revenues exceeded budgeted estimates in May. Department of Finance and Administration Commissioner Larry Martin today announced that overall May revenues were $1.1 billion, which is $53.1 million more than the state budgeted.

Scammers who target Tennessee consumers with caller identification ‘spoofing’ or use deceptive advertising to sell motor vehicle warranties now face additional punishments thanks to new legislation passed by the General Assembly.

Back-to-School Plans Should Include Required Vaccinations
To prevent the spread of diseases and to keep our kids of all ages and their classmates safe, healthy and in school learning, all students in Tennessee, from kindergarten to college, must have proof of immunizations before they can start school. State leaders of health and education say it’s best to get those important vaccines now to avoid longer wait times later and to ensure a smooth beginning to the 2017 school year.

Free Tax Workshops for New Businesses In July
The Tennessee Department of Revenue will be holding a series of free, in-person tax workshops for new businesses in Chattanooga, Johnson City, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville in July. Details on the bi-monthly workshops are below.
