America’s favorite singing competition came to Jefferson County over the weekend with Tennessee Idol. The annual event covering the state of Tennessee came to Dandridge’s Field of Dreams Activity Center for the Lakeway Area section of competition. The Lakeway section featured contestants from Jefferson, Cocke and Grainger counties.

The Lakeway section of Tennessee Idol began with the singing of the national anthem by the competition’s recent Fentress county winner, Shawnasea Horsley. The contestants covered a range of musical styles, influences, and genres.

Tennessee Idol is open to amateur singers of all ages from the counties listed above. Proceeds and funds of Tennessee Idol are used to help assist disabled veterans. The Lakeway competition overall winner was Nevish Snodderly, who will represent Jefferson County at the Tennessee Idol finals in December. Contestants Jacob Wise and Kylie Forbes will also advance to the finals, while Samantha Russell will advance to represent Hamblen County. Winners of each round of Tennessee Idol receive an award and $250.00 worth of prizes or a prize package from local sponsors. Finalists of Tennessee Idol have the opportunity to win $10,000 and professional recording studio time. Tennessee Idol is a part of Brighton Road Entertainment, a full service entertainment company.
