Tennessee Department Of Transportation Releases Updated Three-Year Bridge Funding List

Today in Nashville, State Representative Andrew Farmer (R–Sevierville) joined with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) in announcing TDOT’s updated three-year bridge project list.

The list was officially updated following passage in late April of Governor Haslam’s “Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads, and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy” (IMPROVE) Act, a comprehensive infrastructure funding plan passed by the General Assembly to help fund Tennessee’s current $10 billion backlog of road construction projects.

For Sevier County, this means $1.5 million in additional funding for road and infrastructure projects and an additional $633,000 for Jefferson County over the next three years.

Locally, construction, repairs, and upgrades will begin in 2018 on the following bridges:

  • Sevier: Parkway Bridge on State Route 71 over the Little Pigeon River
  • Jefferson: Meeting Street Bridge on State Route 9 over Rimmer Creek
  • Jefferson: US-25W Bridge over Koontz Creek

Prior to today’s announcement, these construction projects and upgrades have been sitting on TDOT’s backlog list for multiple years.

“With the IMPROVE Act passed, we are already seeing progress as these backlogged projects begin to move forward for the first time in several years,” said Representative Farmer. “These improvements will help make our community safer and will aid in encouraging new business expansion to our area because of our high-quality infrastructure.”
