DONALD ALVIN KERR

Donald Alvin Kerr, age 79, a lifelong resident of New Market (Piedmont), TN passed away suddenly on August 1st in the early morning hours. He was born March 1, 1938 and lived a healthy and hearty life. Don enjoyed every moment with his family and special friends…way too many to name. He was a graduate of Maury High and went on to join the Air Force, serving in Iceland for 2 years. After returning and starting a family, he was one of many in the area to work at Magnavox, where he gained much business knowledge. He carried that expertise forward and opened his own gas station and overcame many economical obstacles to succeed well over 30 years. The most rewarding part of the many hours that he poured into the business was the longtime friends and relationships that developed and were still steadfast. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson A. & Carrie L. Kerr; sisters Juanita Johnson & Betty Estes. He is survived by his special companion, Renee Wallace; his daughters, Debbie (Jim) Nichols; Connie (Rusty) Goddard; Donna (Bill) Chrisman; his grandchildren, Dewayne (Candice) Hinchey; Susie (Tony) Petrucelli; Sydney & Tyler Chrisman; great-grandchildren, Gaby & Aubrey Hinchey; Alyse Petrucelli; and sister Bobbie Seals; nephew Terry Seals. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Jefferson County EMS, Jefferson Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Staff, Farrar Funeral Home (Dandridge/Jefferson City), Mill Springs Baptist Church, and the many friends and family for their kindness, thoughts and prayers during this time. The family will celebrate his life at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6th at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City with Pastor Greg Lindsey officiating the ceremony. Procession immediately following to Piedmont Cemetery for the graveside interment service. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
