Haslam Announces Third Class of Governor’s Management Fellowship Program for Recent Graduates

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced the application period is now open for recent college graduates to apply for the third class of the Tennessee Governor’s Management Fellowship program. The competitive program provides an opportunity for exceptional applicants who wish to serve and learn under Tennessee state government’s top leaders.

Applications will be accepted online here through October 2.

“I truly believe public service is an honorable calling, and through this program we’re offering our most talented recent college graduates the experience of serving the state and its citizens,” Haslam said. “Four of the five participants from our first class continue to serve the state, and I look forward what new levels of talent this third class will have to offer.”

The program offers a competitive salary and is open to recent graduates demonstrating outstanding academic achievement, a passion for serving their communities and great character and leadership abilities.

An executive committee of public and private sector leaders will select a maximum of five fellows to spend two years working full-time for executive-level leadership beginning in August 2018. Fellows will first work on critical statewide projects in the Office of Customer Focused Government, and then be assigned to a cabinet-level department, serving directly under a commissioner on department initiatives.

Applicants must have earned an undergraduate or graduate degree between December 2015 and August 2018. Military service or long-term public service work will also be considered. Questions regarding individual eligibility can be directed to tn.fellows@tn.gov. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in academics, exhibit leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities and a commitment to public service.
