PAUL LAFAYETTE HOLTZCLAW, JR

PAUL LAFAYETTE HOLTZCLAW, JR., passed away Friday, August 18, 2017. He was 93 years old and was a member of the Anitoch Baptist Church. Paul was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy on a Liberty ship, the U.S.S Crux in the SW Pacific. He was proud to have served his country. After returning to civilian life he worked in refrigeration installing the first air conditioning systems in the Tennessee Theatre, The University of Tennessee Medical Center, Park National Bank and many other major businesses in the southeast region. An avid reader, he loved books. He was an artist. He was a craftsman (making violins). He loved music. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a good man. He was preceded in death by parents, Paul Lafayette Holtzclaw, Sr. and Emma Elizabeth McCoig Holtzclaw; sister, Elizabeth “Tib” Rule; brothers, Jack and Donald Holtzclaw; grandson, Grant Holtzclaw. He is survived by his devoted wife, Willa Justice Holtzclaw; sister, Frances Bryant; brothers, Fred and Bill Holtzclaw; children from marriage to Grace Sams Holtzclaw: Mike (Carol) Holtzclaw, Janis (Hunter) Foreman, Nancy (Daniel) Raley, Bob Holtzclaw, Alan (Angie) Holtzclaw, Steve (Linda) Holtzclaw, Paul (Laura) Holtzclaw and 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his daughter, Paula Oeland of California. Paul loved animals and in lieu of flowers his request was that you purchase food for cats and dogs and take to an animal shelter or Noah’s Arc Animal Rescue in Talbott. The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00pm prior to celebration of life services to be held at 3:00pm at the Antioch Baptist Church, Indian Creek Rd., Dandridge, TN with Rev.
