He was a member of George Street United Methodist Church, where he attended faithfully for many years, and was a 50 year member of Mossy Creek Masonic Lodge and Holston # 384 Order of the Eastern Star. He worked for the state of Tennessee for over 30 years as an Engineering Technician, building roads across the beautiful state he loved. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Wells Gass; father, Earnest Gass; mother, Callie Snow Gass; father and mother-in-law, Hubert and Lydia Carroll Wells; brothers, Conard Gass, Snow Gass, Bob Gass; sister, Peggy Gass Denton; brother-in-law, Cleason Wells. He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Family was dear to him. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He looked forward to nothing more than family get-togethers. During the past few years, great-grandson Hunter would drive his Papaw around the farm and chop down thistles, and London would entertain him by singing and dancing. Their sweet faces always brightened his days. He has meant so much to so many, and will be remembered always. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev.
