State Representative Andrew Farmer (R-Sevierville) today announced that a $424,961 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) has been approved for Jefferson County in order to assist with water system improvements and upgrades.

Funding was allocated to Jefferson County under a procedure authorized by the Tennessee General Assembly based on priorities set at local levels where community needs are best known.

“These monies will help improve the health and overall quality of life for our residents by ensuring that they have access to clean water,” said Representative Farmer. “Only 38 percent of applicants received these grants; I am pleased that Jefferson County was included, and I appreciate Commissioner Rolfe’s support in helping our local officials address some of the important needs in our growing region.”

The CDBG program is administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development. For more information please visit: https://www.tn.gov/ecd
