The students of Jefferson County High School came together, once again, for the annual Night of the Patriots celebration. The program to honor those who have served and are serving in all branches of the military celebrated its 25th production Thursday night.

The evening began with the JROTC Color Guard presenting the colors, while the JCHS Choral Department sang the National anthem. Student Tyler Ross led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.

In front of a packed James D. Swann Performing Arts Center, students from several different departments honored and entertained for the event. The JCHS Choir Department performed “Color Me America,” “Letters from War,” and “My Shot,” from the musical Hamilton. The Drama Department performed a combination of “We Were Soldiers Once” and “I am an American Veteran.”

The JROTC Honor Guard honored those who were MIA, KIA, and POWs with a special presentation.

One of the many highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Quilts of Valor, which made the 99th and 100th quilts that the Jefferson County chapter had given away this year. Also, the winners of the VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Contest will now go on to the national level.

Along with the JCHS Band’s outstanding Service Salute and exceptional performances by the Cheerleading and Dance Teams, Flag Corp, and other dramatic readings, the evening was, once again, a success.

The students and staff of JCHS under the direction of David Seal made for yet another fantastic Night of the Patriots.
