LU ANN BALLEW ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE

Attorney Lu Ann (Hatcher) Ballew announces her candidacy for Circuit Court Judge, Part I, for the 4th Judicial District, which serves Sevier, Cocke, Jefferson, and Grainger Counties. The vacancy was created by the retirement of the Honorable Ben W. Hooper, II. The Circuit Court Judge presides over civil and criminal cases, including jury trials. She will be running in the Republican Primary May 1, 2018.

Ballew has 10 years judicial experience, having served the 4th Judicial District as the former Child Support Magistrate, in which she presided over Title IV-D child support cases in the Circuit and Chancery Courts. She is also experienced in civil and criminal litigation, including jury trials, from her years in private practice in Sevier and Jefferson Counties. She has further experience in criminal litigation, including jury trials, from her years in public service as an Assistant Public Defender, during which she served primarily in Grainger and Jefferson Counties. She is currently in private practice representing clients primarily in Cocke County.

Lu Ann was Valedictorian of Jefferson County High School Class of 1982. She graduated magna cum laude from Carson-Newman College in 1986, where she earned a degree in psychology. She graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1989 and was licensed to practice law in Tennessee the same year.

Ballew says, “I ask the people of Jefferson, Sevier, Cocke, and Grainger Counties to vote for and elect me to serve you as Circuit Court Judge, Part I.”

Early voting for the Republican Primary begins April 11 and ends April 26, 2018.
