ARGIELEAN NAPIER SAYLOR

Argielean Napier Saylor, age 91, passed away peacefully Friday, December 08, 2017 at Jefferson Park in Dandridge, TN. She was born in Harlan County, KY August 12, 1926 to the late Gilbert and Judy Scott Napier. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ralph Saylor, beloved sisters and brothers, Nora King, Opal Koch, Columbus Napier, Elmer Napier, and nephew, Glenn Darrell King. Always devoted to family, she is survived by her daughters, Kathy Miller and Delphine (Jim) Deaton, grandchildren, Allison Miller of Kingsport, TN, Amy (Todd) Hamilton of Brentwood, TN, Ben (Cynthia) Deaton of Clemson, SC, and her dearly beloved great grandchildren, Emma Price, William and Davis Hamilton, Ever Cristine and Mills Deaton, brothers, Virgil and Warren Napier, niece, Wenomi Sears, nephews, Randall (Cindy) Napier, Ronnie (Sharon) Napier, Alfred King, and dear friend, Patricia Grant. She enjoyed recalling her school days in Harlan County and her childhood church, Pansy Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Roscoe Douglas. She was a graduate of Clinch Valley College in Wise, VA and began her teaching career in the two-room school at Abner’s Gap in Dickenson County, VA. Riddles, rhymes, poetry, and history were classroom favorites. The family is grateful for the kind, loving caregivers, medical staff, and friends whose kind efforts and uplifting prayers kept her smiling and singing her favorite hymns as long as possible. “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.” The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 4:30 until 5:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Strickler officiating. Graveside interment service will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Resthaven Cemetery in Baxter, KY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Rural Clinic, 126 W.
