Martha Dandridge Garden Club Meeting February 22

A special program about gardening using technology will be the topic of the opening meeting of the Martha Dandridge Garden Club’s (MDGC) 2018 season when the group meets on February 22 at 2 pm at the Dandridge Senior Center.

The club will discuss “There’s an App for That”, i.e. using websites and applications (Apps) to source plants and gardening techniques. Members are urged to bring their smart phones and tablets to the Mardi Gras themed event.

Supporters are also asked to provide donations (canned goods, fabiosa, paper towels) for the local food pantry and for the local animal shelter. Cash contributions will also be accepted for these two local organizations.

2018 is going to be an active, exciting year for the club including holding a “Mad Hatters Garden Party”, creating your own “Fairy Garden”, and much more. Field Trips to Ijams Nature Center, the UT Gardens and Lake Lure are also scheduled.

May 17 – 19 will be the dates of the rummage sale at the rescue center, so everyone is asked to start saving items to donate (no clothes please) and their plastic bags.

A full list of the activities is included in the annual yearbook, which will be available for pick up at the first meeting.

The Garden Club is FREE and open to anyone interested in friendship, fauna and flora. You don’t have to have a green thumb to attend!

Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 2 pm at the Dandridge Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Hope to see you there!
