Travis Adderhold announces his candidacy for Jefferson County Clerk on the May 1 Republican Primary ballot. Travis has lived in Jefferson County for over 20 years. He moved to Jefferson County with his parents while attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in pursuit of his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Adderhold worked for the former County Clerk for 16 years and was promoted to Chief Deputy Clerk during his tenure. “In 1997, I took a part-time position with the County Clerk’s office and after I graduated UT, Mr. Farrar offered me a full-time position. I did not hesitate to accept because I love the people, the office, and the work.”

Travis assisted the Clerk in initiating new services to the office and paved the way for Jefferson County to begin printing automobile titles in the office. He also developed most of the content for the County Clerk’s page on the website for Jefferson County, www.jeffersoncountytn.gov. Adderhold assisted in establishing the Jefferson County Clerk’s office as a US passport acceptance agent. He created an instructional DVD video which played in the office to let the public know the services offered by the County Clerk. “I applaud adding services to the citizens of the county! However, I also think as a steward of the taxpayers’ dollars we must carefully weigh out the benefits provided by the service against the cost it bears upon the public” adds Mr. Adderhold.

Since his departure from the Jefferson County Clerk’s office in 2014, Mr. Adderhold has been employed by the Knox County Clerk, Foster D. Arnett, Jr. “I think seeing how a larger county office works has given me the experience to understand the demands which will be made on the Clerk’s office as Jefferson County grows” stated Adderhold. While employed at Knox County, Travis has been the East location Back-up Manager and took over the Business License Supervisor position in July of 2015. As the Business License Supervisor, he collected over $600,000 in delinquent hotel/motel occupancy taxes discovered in an audit prior to his employment. Mr. Arnett said in an article displayed in the Knoxville News Sentinel, “I’m lucky to have Adderhold in the office, who has 17 years’ experience in the clerk’s office.”

Travis and his wife, Leslie, chose to raise their family, of four children, in the Dumplin Valley community of Jefferson County. Travis served as the Secretary of the Jefferson County Republican Party for 2 years. He has volunteered his time as an assistant coach and coach for AYSO soccer and the Field of Dreams youth basketball. Travis and Leslie are active in Maury Middle PTO and the Oakland United Methodist Church, where Leslie initiated the Cinderella’s Closet ministry giving prom dresses to teens.

Adderhold said, “My vision and goals are to treat the public respectfully and responsibly during the course of business and to help those in need when I can be of service. When I worked at the Clerk’s office in Dandridge, I jumped off dead batteries for customers, put hundreds of decals on plates in the parking lot, gave curbside service, and stayed over to help others in a bind. It is my dream to serve the folks of Jefferson County as their County Clerk. I have 20 years’ experience serving the public and trying to make their visits to the County Clerk’s office pleasant and stress free. Help get me back home to Jefferson County by voting Travis Adderhold for County Clerk on May 1, 2018.” #adderhold4countyclerk
