Introducing Steven Huff With UT Extension Office

I was born and raised on a tobacco and beef cattle farm in East Tennessee. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and my Masters from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Blessed to have married my High School Sweetheart Tara and this year marks our 10 year anniversary. We have two fantastic children, Denver (7) and EllaKate (4). I have been with UT Extension now for 10 years and assisting agriculture producers is my passion. Raised in Agriculture, I understand the importance it has in many lives in Tennessee and I appreciate the opportunity to give back as well as try to make a difference. I have been working with bees and beekeepers for close to five years now and have five hives at our Dandridge office where we conduct research while also using them for hands-on education in conjunction with meetings and classes.

As an outreach of the University of Tennessee, Extension provides research-based information and educational programs to the citizens of Jefferson County. By serving as the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent in Jefferson County, I have the privilege of working with some of the most passionate people in the Industry. Each day provides the opportunity for me to talk to someone different within agriculture.
Not only do I have the opportunity to interact with agriculture producers, but homeowners and landowners as well. From issues with your backyard vegetable garden to pests in your landscape, call our office because we can help. Every day is different at the UT Extension office: I may be teaching a group of people interested in grafting fruit trees in the morning to working with a cattle producer about reproduction and pasture management in the afternoon. The next day might encompass identifying a disease or insect in a vegetable garden in the morning and scouting a soybean field in the afternoon. Never a dull moment and rarely the same needs from day to day! As your Jefferson County Agriculture Agent, if I don’t know the answer to your questions I will find the answer for you.

For information on any upcoming classes or assistance with your personal agricultural needs, please call our office at 865-397-2969.
