Modern Woodmen of Jefferson City recently honored Frank Brown as a Hometown Hero.  Better known as “Downtown Brown” the “unofficial mayor of the historic district on downtown Jeff City.”  The former longtime school teacher in Jefferson County Schools, has been a great volunteer in the community throughout the years. About 20 years ago, he was influential in starting back up the Jeff City Christmas Parade after it was discontinued. When the parade was re-started, Mr. Brown gave extra credit to his students who would march in the Christmas Parade. He would have them dress up in a decorated box and march as a present.  He also helped started the 4th of July Parade in Jeff City.  He and his wife donated land to Mossy Creek Foundation which is where the new Mossy Creek Station Park is located.
