JOHN WALLACE “WALLY” STALLINGS, SR.

John Wallace Stallings, Sr., 79, of Morristown, TN, known to his friends as “Wally”, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 1, 2018. His warm smile and legendary sense of humor will be missed by all who love him. Wally was born on September 9, 1938 in Griffin, GA and will be welcomed to heaven by his parents, J.C. and Cleo Stallings, and sisters Evelyn Blackmon, Dorothy Hickerson, and Marty Gilbert. Leading the homecoming parade will be his oldest daughter, Diana Stallings.

Wally is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Woods Stallings of Morristown, and his children John, Jr. (Louise) of Dandridge, Stuart W. (Jan) of Morristown, Deb of San Francisco, Steve of Morristown, and Kathee (Lynne Hatcher) of Dandridge; grandchildren Mirena Hall (Chesney) and Miranda Richey, Stephanie and Becky Stallings, Kirsten Witt, and Ethan Stallings; great-grandchildren Lizzy and Nola Hall, McKenzie Stallings, Dawson Frazier, and Jupiter Witt. He is also survived by his brothers Edward Stallings, Charles Stallings, and Rev. Jim Stallings, all of Georgia, and scores of beloved nieces and nephews. One of Wally’s greatest gifts was his ability to open his heart and home to family not connected to him by DNA which is why he was referred to as “Dad” by a wide circle of loved ones including Freda Johnson, Krista Lewis, Donny and Connie Slaton, and a host of others too numerous to mention. Wally’s love for others was a direct reflection of his love for Jesus. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.

Receiving friends will be from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with the Life Celebration Service beginning at 7:00pm in the chapel. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity at www.habitat.org/donate so that others will have homes in which to raise happy, healthy families. Because at the end of the day, home and family is what mattered most to Wally.
