Reed Announces Candidacy for County Commission

Marcus ReedMarcus Reed has announced his candidacy for 10th District County Commission. Reed served Jefferson County from 2005 to 2013 as the Executive Director of the Jefferson County Emergency Communications District/E-911. He was instrumental in the designing, budgeting, and construction phases of the County’s Emergency Services Center.

Reed achieved great success in both government service and private business. Through determination and hard work, he retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel receiving many prestigious awards. He was Assistant Director of Operations for a private remediation company and Service Manager for a Knoxville Communications Company. Through proven leadership and a wealth of knowledge gained through his life experiences, he is more than qualified and capable of filling the important position of County Commissioner.

Marcus moved to Jefferson County in 1996 and resides in Jefferson City with his wife Sandra. He is a proud father of three sons and proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren. Reed is a life member of VFW Post 3380 Dandridge, life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and life member of the Military Officers Association of America. Marcus is honored and proud to call Jefferson County his home. He served on the Jefferson City Planning Commission and United Way Board of Jefferson County.

He will work with the Mayor, Commissioners, County Departments, and Jefferson County citizens to ensure transparency in government, enhance quality of education, using taxpayer money wisely, and encouraging industry to locate to the County
