Early Wednesday Fire in New Market
Fire fighters responded early Wednesday morning to a barn fire on Nances Ferry Road. New Market Fire Rescue received the call around 5:22 am and the first engine arrived on the scene by 5:29 am. The barn, owned by Alan and Jean Willard, contained several bales of hay and lumber. A total of 18 men, 2 fire engines and a tanker responded to the call and continued to battle the flames for about 1 hour. The barn only sustained minor damage, according to Captain Sammy Solomon of New Market Fire Rescue, however the contents were lost in the fire.
